Southern Queer Survivor Network offers direct, one-on-one peer counseling and case management to survivors of abuse. We believe that LGBTQ+ survivors deserve support that affirms all parts of who they are. Our team of queer advocates can provide safety planning and support for folks experiencing abuse. The support we offer ranges from logistical to emotional to material support.
Our goal is to help our people find healing, build resiliency, and ultimately gain the autonomy to live full lives.
However, our project is not a crisis line, and we do not have emergency housing at this time.

Our team can provide information about legal processes and provide referrals to legal resources when necessary.
If you need support with court appearances, contacting legal aid, filing for protective orders, or if you just have questions around legal support, please reach out to us.

SQSN works with a team of vetted, experienced therapists to provide limited sessions of free crisis counseling to LGBTQ survivors of abuse.
Therapy is limited by availability of funding. If there are no therapy spots open at this time, you can request to be added to our wait list.
Additionally, we can help partner people with the right therapist within their insurance network or price range.
If you have any questions about our therapy program, shoot an email to advocate@LGBTQcenterofdurham.org

Oftentimes, people experiencing abuse and violence face a number of barriers that prevent them from escaping. Those barriers aren’t easy to overcome alone- we work with survivors to address needs such as housing, food, accessing resources as needed.
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide emergency housing or emergency crisis services at this time.

We host free virtual support groups!
Our peer support groups are virtual groups offered to queer people who have experienced harm and is facilitated by our advocates. Virtual groups are hosted regularly and usually span 4-5 weeks.
Our therapeutic support groups, such as our DBT group for survivors, run for up to 12 weeks and are facilitated by a licensed therapist alongside an advocate.
You can find out about our upcoming groups or register for a group by emailing, calling, or keeping an eye on LGBTQ Center of Durham social media for flyer updates.
We invite you to make an appointment to speak with one of our advocates.
Unfortunately, we do not currently provide emergency housing or a 24/7 crisis line.
